Nelly O'Sullivan was a stall holder in the Coal Quay Market in Cork City, Ireland. She got her name, Durty Nelly, from the old shawl she wore everyday, but, was never washed. Her thought was, "Ah sure it'll only get durty again!" So, when John Joe Somers opened his venture in Boston, he brought a little Ireland with him using memories and stories of his neighbor, Nelly.
This was a quick shot on a cold, rainy day. For me, cold means frequent restroom visits and this was no exception. I was on the hunt!
