Has Anybody Seen The Bridge?
Just to the left of this shot is the historical site, Gordon's Ferry. It's a bridge now and I didn't find it interesting enough to post this time, so, it's missing. Major Aneas Gordon began operating the ferry in 1853. The ferry was one of the only eastern crossings of the Kern River until 1877 when the Jewett Avenue bridge was built to the West. Business fell off at Gordon's Ferry after that for many years. A wooden bridge was built at the crossing in 1901 after oil was discovered in 1899 on the North side of the river.
